You Never Know Unless You Try

20" x 24" — Oil/Canvas — 2008
• SOLD

There's no shortage of those stories of people who wanted to do something other than what they are doing, or did for the entire life, like writing a novel, learning to play an instrument, traveling, etc. So many things complicate life, preventing dreams from taking shape. Responsibilities, people and events all put the kibosh on passions. Subscribing to the simple philosophy of "just do it" seems almost terrifyingly simple, so brazen and lacking foresight. It's as if people are happier if things are really complicated because that complication can help squelch the little voice in your head that reminds you that you once had dreams.

2001 Silver Oak

20" x 24" — Oil/Canvas — 2008

I figured the bright, juicy pear gave some punch. I also think there's an interesting contrast in the tall, stately suggestion in the figure of the bottle and the curved more relaxed figure of the pear. They make an interesting couple.

Big Pears

24" x 36" — Oil/Canvas — 2008
• SOLD

This is a large painting, but there's simply no way of telling that when looking at it on your computer screen. That's the only problem with looking at art on computers — everyone gets to see it, no one gets to experience it.

Wine & Glass

16" x 20" — Oil/Canvas — 2008

It finally feels like dust is starting to settle. For the past several months there's been this massive distraction from daily life. It seems like every headline just projects doom and gloom, but there now seems to be some resolve and everyone can set about getting things working once again. I think I'll take this opportunity to sink into painting. It's always a good place to be.

Southwest Art Magazine

My friend Karin Jurick already mentioned on her blog that she spotted my work, along with another friend of mine, Neil Hollingsworth, in the November 2008 issue of Southwest Art Magazine.

I'm on the bottom right of the left page (the bubble gum machine). Neil's work is the PB&J on the top left of the left page.

It's kind of exciting to see your work in a publication.

New Giclee Prints on Paper

It's been some time since I've had 8" x 10" prints on paper available. I figured now would be a great time to issue some new prints (as we inch toward the holidays).

They're available on Etsy.
