16" x 20" — Oil/Canvas — 2008

Red. I'm intrigued by the intensity of the colour red. It draws the eye right to it. Andy Goldsworthy has some beautiful pieces that illustrate the intensity of red. Recently I watched the documentary Rivers & Tides about Andy and his work. The ideas and images in his work leave me speechless. Check out a short clip of Rivers & Tides here on YouTube.

Three Red Pears & Five Antique Books

16" x 20" — Oil/Canvas — 2008

Another in a continuing series of antique book paintings. All about the basic simplicity and repetition of the shapes. I try to create an easy rhythm and calmness with the colours.

I haven't painted one of these for a while. I painted it loosely on this smaller panel.

Vintage Alarm Clock & Antique Book No.2

8" x 8" — Oil/Panel — 2008
• Available at the Elliott Fouts Gallery
See, I said it was a similar composition to the one I posted yesterday. I've been working "larger" for the past several weeks, so getting back to the small panel pieces was a real treat. It's a completely different experience, these small paintings. I plan on doing enough over time to make the experience feel like a familiar ground.

This is the first of two clock paintings I just completed with a similar composition. Contact the gallery to find out just how reasonable these small paintings on panel are.

I've recently finished a series of smaller paintings on panel, they'll show up here on my blog over the next three days. I had fun painting the crayons — definitely doing more of those!

Limited Edition Prints on Canvas
I've often been asked by collectors if I'll ever produce larger prints of my work. The smaller giclee prints on paper that I've had have been very popular, however larger prints are more difficult and time consuming to produce when you'd rather be in the studio.
The Elliott Fouts Gallery in Sacramento has taken that task off my hands. The gallery is now offering limited edition, large canvas prints and "mini" canavs prints of some of my paintings. I've had these prints here in my studio to sign and I was blown away at the quality.
